Maintaining correct alignment in triangle pose yoga is crucial to avoid strain and get the most from the posture. Start by standing with your feet wide apart and arms extended. Turn your front foot 90 degrees outward and the back foot slightly inward. As you exhale, reach forward with your front arm and tilt your torso over the front leg, placing your hand on your shin, ankle, or the floor, depending on your flexibility. The opposite arm should extend straight up toward the sky, and your gaze can follow that hand. Ensure your shoulders are stacked, the chest is open, and both legs remain strong and active. Many practitioners unconsciously collapse the chest or strain the neck, so constant awareness of body positioning is essential in triangle pose yoga.
